UTMI.net expands high speed Internet access
UTMI.net, a privately owned company based in Petoskey is expanding its telecommunications network into 12 more rural communities.
Services for the communities of East Jordan and Fremont will be activated in July with Cadillac and West Branch to be activated in September and Mackinaw City, Kalkaska, Rockford, Greenville, Cedar Springs, Manistee, Oscoda and East Tawas services to be completed by December.
UTMI.net’s services will include local and long distance calling, high-speed Internet, Super T-1s and seven-digit calling between UTMI.net’s service areas. Also offered will be Voice Over Internet Protocol, wireless Interent and extended DSL services, capable of performing twice the distance of normal DSL.
“Rural Michigan is our grassroots and we will continue to serve those communities,” said Scott Baldwin, owner and president of UTMI.net. “While the other companies continue to market the larger cities such as Detroit and Grand Rapids, UTMI.net will go forward into these rural communities to continue providing affordable phone and Internet services.”
